WHAT’S NEW?

 Happy Cooking Cooking Class
A HUGE THANKS to all our former GUESTS

I would like to thank everyone who has visited Time For Lime through the 7,5 years we have been open. Either by staying in our bungalows, eating at our Restaurant, having a sunset drinks in the Bar or joining in our Cooking Classes. Because of you I finally was able to build the greatly needed Animal clinic and rescue center. The Center was finished in Jan. 2010, the cost 4,5 mill. Baht. You might not know, but ALL profits from Time For Lime goes to the charity Lanta Animal Welfare that works to relieve the pain and suffering of animals in distress. So old and new guests eat & drink your hearts out at Time For Lime!

NOW OPEN ALL YEAR

Even though Koh Lanta has not been known to be “thriving” with tourists in “Green Season” (May – Sep.) We have decided to keep open. WHY? The weather is changing, many more sunshine days than before. It’s a great time to be here, quieter; locals have more time chat and are themselves. Accommodation is cheaper. Plus I want to keep staff employed. Also try to generate more funding in for Lanta Animal Welfare.

Our Cooking Classes will run with the regular schedule.
Our Bungalows will have nice prices
Our Restaurant will be open with a slightly different menu than high season, we will still keep our tasting menu concept, that changes every day.
Our Beach Bar will still serve the best Mojitos, Lemmongrass & chili Margaritas.
The Music will still be the best on the Island.
So…. Why not stop by, have a nice time, and if you like help doing some doggie walking with our rescue shelter dogs, give some affection and get the double back.

WE HAVE RENOVATED OUR BUNGALOWS!
We have installed Air-con and a kids loft bed in 4 out of 8 of our bungalows.

They still have fan & mosquito net, so you can choose what you want.

For more info check out OUR BUNGALOWS.

  Restaurant Tree View Restaurant
THE TIME FOR LIME RESTAURANT!
TIME FOR TASTING!

This year we did something different; an exciting 6 dish TASTING MENU that changed every day! I must say I feel very proud, as 99% of all guests have been VERY enthusiastic of the menu, the food and the personal and friendly service.

The restaurant will open at 5 for dinner (the bar is open earlier.) You can either enjoy a meal or cocktail on the beach or up in the Tree-Top restaurant, where you can relish the sunset breeze while peeking at what our cooking "students" are creating down below.

LANTA ANIMAL WELFARE

After living on the Island for almost 8 years and have seen the conditions getting worse for the animals, especially stray dogs. Lanta consists of 95% Thai / Muslim which many have unfortunately interpreted the Koran in a very “special” way; that abuse and killing of dogs is totally accepted and is a norm. So I started LANTA ANIMAL WELFARE in 2005. I am in the process of registering this as a charity organization which is not easy in Thailand. PLEASE, help us help the animals. Your help can make a big difference!

The work we do:
  • - Sterilization programs
  • - Rabies vaccination programs
  • - Animal care
  • - Adoption
  • - Volunteer programs
  • - Education
  • - Clinic
  • - Recovery center

This has been very hard work, since there haven’t been any Vets. or clinics on the Island. In January 2010 my dream came true. I finally had managed to save up enough money from running Time for Lime and built the first Clinic & Recovery Center.

Lanta Animal Welfare is in desperate need of:
  • - STABLE WORKING VOLUNTEERS
  • - DONATIONS
  • - A WEB MASTER

I would like to give special humble thanks to:

  • - Soi Dog Foundation from Phuket. www.soidog.org that has helped with the sterilization programs.
  • - Dr. Narin from Trang Animal Hospital which I have known for 7 years now and is always helpful and has a kind heart.
  • - Those who have been generous and given donations, special thanks to Doris & Christian from Austria.

"TIME FOR LIME BOOK"

- recipes and stories about the food, the people and surroundings

Within the 6 years we have been in business many of our guest have asked “where  is your cookbook?” I have finally (almost) managed to realize  that dream. A contract was supposed to be signed??? with the publisher  CAPPELEN in Norway for the Norwegian version of the cookbook. And is now on the market under the title “TID FOR THAI” which means “Time for Thai”, it can be ordered online here or in bookstores in Norway. The original English version is also due out. Hopefully late 2010 under My  own direction. Publishers are more than welcome to show  interest in this, or versions in other languages

The TIME FOR LIME book will feature a large range of recipes, from good, authentic Thai dishes to refreshing Fusion dishes, all contributed from TIME FOR LIME, our neighbors and friends. The book will also include stories about our guests, staff, adopted dogs, and perhaps funny memories similar to your own from your visit to Thailand.

The book will also be a helpful guide for those who have  not yet had a chance to visit “the land of many  smiles,” both food-wise and culturally.

So, if I get my way, it will not be just another traditional cookbook.

If you have any comments on this concept, or you are interested in the book, please e-mail me at Time for  Lime so I can send you availability and ordering information.

- Idea & Concept: Junie Kovacs (creator and owner of Time For Lime)
- Writers: Junie Kovacs and Yngve Ekern (food journalist in the Norwegian news paper Aftenposten, also made 2 cookbooks in Norway in collaboration with others)

- Main Photographer: Nancy Bundt

PS I am very interested in getting contact with creative photographers for pictures for the Time for Lime Book, and also for doing some promotion pictures for Lanta Animal Welfare. If you are interested please take contact. Hope to see (hear) from you soon!
Best regards,

Junie
